I came across an article authored by Richard Kratz, which can be found at the following link. In his article, he provides an accurate assessment of the Japanese economy. Here, I will provide a summary of his key points to make it easier for English language learners in Japan to understand.
… Japan has a problem: there aren't enough people who know how to work with digital technology. Even though Japanese high school students are really good at math and science, not many of them choose to work with digital technology or science. Because of this, there is a shortage of people who can help make computers and other technology work. This is a big problem because many companies need these people to make their businesses better. The problem is made worse because many Japanese companies use old computer systems that are very complicated. They don't want to change because it would be too expensive, and they don't have enough people who know how to use the new systems. This means that their old systems are causing big problems, like losing important data and breaking down a lot. The shortage of people who know how to work with digital technology is also making it hard for the economy to grow. Japan needs more than a million people who know how to work with technology, but there are only around 1.13 million. This means that companies can't use the latest and best technology to make their businesses better. If Japan doesn't fix this problem, the country could lose a lot of money and the economy could be much smaller than it should be... One way to fix Japan's problem of not having enough people who know how to work with computers is for the government to make more classes and programs that teach about digital technology. Companies could also give their workers more chances to learn and get better at using computers. Another idea is to bring in people from other countries who are good at working with computers to help fill the gap. Lots of other countries have already done things like this to make sure they have enough people who are good at using computers. For example, the United States has special programs to help students become experts in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). China has made big investments in its schools and has worked with technology companies to train skilled workers. South Korea has a program to teach everyone about technology and has spent a lot of money to make new technology. Singapore has a really good education system that focuses on technology and has attracted really smart people from all over the world. According to a recent report by the World Bank ( New Article ), Japan ranks the lowest among developed countries in terms of gender equality under the law. The report evaluates laws and regulations related to women's economic participation in eight categories: the workplace, marriage, and assets. Japan's low ranking is attributed to its lack of legislation to punish sexual harassment in the workplace and its poor performance in pay and workplace categories. It is probably a significant reason why educated women from Japan seek opportunities overseas, where they can find a more welcoming environment. To me, the results are not surprising, the lack of gender equality under the law, particularly in the workplace, is a significant issue that has been affecting women in Japan for years. The World Bank report highlights the importance of implementing laws and regulations that protect women from discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace. Without these protections, women are less likely to achieve their full potential and may choose to seek opportunities elsewhere. 'go where you will be appreciated, learn English, learn a skill that is needed and get out' . Countries like Canada and Spain have achieved a perfect score of 100 in the World Bank report. Which means that men and women enjoy equal legal rights. ![]() Microsoft Learn is an excellent platform for both educators and learners. You can now create questions that require students to answer by typing out a response. This new question type is great for assessing student comprehension and critical thinking skills.
With 'Type', you have the flexibility to configure the question type to accept multiple answers that either exactly match or contain the student's answer. This feature is available in any set of questions, along with the classic multiple-choice question type. With the addition of the Typing Answer question type, I'm excited to announce that I'll be adding this feature to all of the sets hosted on our website. Typing Answer questions take language learning to the next level by requiring students to produce language instead of just recognizing it. This is a great way for learners to test their understanding of vocabulary, grammar, and more. I hope this new feature will encourage our users to take their language learning to another level and provide a more engaging and interactive experience for everyone. So ... If you're looking to practice or teach Japanese or English skills, be sure to check out the pre-hosted Blooket sets available on the website ( Peter's game page ) . These sets cover a wide range of topics and offer a fun and interactive way to learn new vocabulary and grammar. So why not give them a try and see how much you can improve your language skills with Blooket's new Typing Answer feature?
