Here are some activities that I've used in the past.
これが私が自己紹介のために過去に使ったいくつかの活動です。
Activity to teach students about This and That
Before doing this lesson, you need to prepare some animals (9 -10), [ 3 x ( this , that and that over there ) cards ] & [ 3 x ( this is a/an , that is a/an and that over there is an/an ) cards ]
Step 1 : Make groups of 4, and have students push their tables together. ( If you teach 36 students, there should be 9 groups of 4. ) Now walk around the classroom together with students, put the animal on the table and do some repetition " This is a dog " etc. Once you have finished laying out the animals, together with the students stand at the front of the classroom.
Now say, "let's teach other's about things not close to us." Show them three cards, ( this ) ( that ) and ( that over there ), now ask 9 students to put it where they think they belong.
Once the students return, take out the ( This is a/an ) ( That is a/an ) and (That over there is a/an) cards. Do some repetition, then give the card to 9 different students to place on the tables.

Now test students by asking questions and pointing,
Teacher: Goki, what is that? (pointing at the cow)
Student: That is a cow.
Teacher: Good! Emi, what is this? (pointing at the cat)
Student: This is a cat.
Put students in pairs and give them a couple of minutes asking and answering the questions for the animals on the desks.
All around the classroom ( 3 word quiz )
Sit students back down at their desks and put in pairs. Pairs take it in turns to ask questions and point to things around the classroom, such as:
Student A: What is that over there?
Student B: That is a book.
Student A: No, it's red.
Student B: Um, that is an apple.
Students A: Yes, that’s right!
( 3 word quiz variation )
Tell student B to put their heads on their tables and don't look. Show student A a list of three things in the classroom, tell them student B must say all three words before they can sit down.
Student A: What is this?
Student B: This is a book.
Student A: Yes, next, what is that over there.
Student B: That is an apple.
Student A: No, it is blue!
Student B: That is a book.
Student A: Yes, last, what is that over there.
Student B: That is a tree.
Student A: Yes, good job.
